Cherry Blossom History
During the spring of 2009, six women friends met to discuss ways to be more intentional in the way they spent their remaining and fleeting time with their daughters. They endeavored to prepare their daughters to become successful college students, while further equipping and empowering them to become responsible, young adult women who make a difference in this world. One of the women knew of National Charity League. After discussion, that led to the exciting decision to establish a chapter in Virginia.
On September 20, 2009, with the passion and vision of these women and the founding Board members of creating a legacy to fill unmet needs in our community and to strengthen the mother daughter bond for generations to come, the Cherry Blossom Chapter was formed with 48 Patronesses and 53 Ticktockers, a total of 101 members and representing 13 area schools – being the very first in Virginia, and the entire Washington, DC area.
Our Cherry Blossom Chapter now has 313 active and provisional members plus 59 sustainers.
